Celebrating a special 100th Birthday
It was delightful to see one of our residents celebrate their 100th birthday whilst surrounded by their family and friends. Jean Twose was joined by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren over her birthday weekend as well as her lovely friends from the site. Jean was presented with some wonderful bouquets of flowers, thoughtful words & her extra special royal card from the King and the Queen Consort, which then brought back fond memories of the time Jean met King Charles in 2004 when he came to open the site. Jean kept everyone amused with her chat and jokes during the toasting of her special birthday, had a lovely lunch followed by cutting her beautiful homemade cake which was made by her son. The day was filled with memories which everyone will cherish.
January – Happy New Year
There were no January blues for our residents this year after receiving a lovely afternoon tea supplied by The Ginger Pig. Residents indulged in fine finger sandwiches, an array of delicious sweet treats and plentiful supply of tea.
December round up
December is such a joyous month and at the Trust we like to revel in the festivities for our residents. We had a busy month on the lead up to Christmas hosting events in addition to the usual coffee mornings, quiz nights and social clubs.
On 5th December 2022 our coffee morning welcomed Mayor Sue Griggs and beadle Alan Burnett for refreshments, chats and singing. It was lovely for our residents to meet the Mayor and also for the Mayor to take a look around and get a real insight into the housing we provide at the Trust.
It was a delight to be able to have the residents back together for Christmas 2022 where they all enjoyed the annual Director’s Christmas lunch together in the community room. The dinner is organised by the Trust and is a token to the residents to end another year in an appreciative and positive means. Seeing the residents enjoying the company and getting in the Christmas spirit is so uplifting and cements the reason we are here for them.
We were also able to welcome back some local primary schools to the sites to hear their jubilant voices. We were lucky enough to have pupils from Castle Primary, Heathcoat Primary & St John’s Catholic Primary schools pay us a visit to sing us an array of songs and carols. They all sang beautifully, it was a real delight to see and hear.
